Check for duplicate versions of your site in Google's index

For a user, there is little difference (except that they might see a warning about an insecure site in their browser).

To a search engine, however, these are different versions of your site . Your site should only have one version indexed, and you need to check for duplicates. Fortunately, you can easily check for duplicates.

The alternative here is to enter each version of the URL into your browser. You should be redirected to a single version, whichever one you have. If not, 301 redirect all versions to one.

You might be shocked by the number of pages Google indexes.

If you run an e-commerce store, how many products do you have listed? If you have a simple lead generation site, how many pages and posts do you have published in your CMS?

All we're doing here is a quick check: are the number of indexed results what you expected?

Otherwise, you may have a duplicate or poor content page issue that needs to be addressed.
