Grandparents, a key piece
The workshop is aimed at grandparents of beneficiaries of the Plan Familia Program, who are often the primary caregivers of the disabled person. With this workshop we seek to create an environment of trust, where grandparents can share experiences, discuss issues that concern them, raise questions and acquire skills that help them manage day-to-day life with their family members. Grandparents will learn about the nature of their grandchild's disability, as well as the programs and services available to them. In addition, the impact of having a disabled member in the family will be evaluated and discussed.
How grandparents can become a greater support in coping with a new situation, their involvement in treatments, in educational guidelines, how to improve family dialogue, are some of the questions that will be answered during this workshop that takes place this Thursday and Friday in Madrid.
During these two days, the grandmother or grandmother will analyze what their role is, what role they play within their family. On the one hand, and on the more personal side, we will work on accepting a new situation in the family, where there is a member with a disability and the role within it. On the other hand, we will address the future relationship that the grandfather will build with his grandchildren and how the Adecco Foundation can support in this process.
