Google announced on September 24 that another core algorithm update would be released on the same day. Google makes changes to its algorithm every day to improve search results, but these typically do not have a noticeable impact on global rankings.
However, a few times a year, Google releases larger updates that can have a bigger impact on search results and cause websites to drop (or rise) in the rankings . Well, it’s that time of year again, and this update is called the September 2019 Core update.

Large fluctuations in rankings across desktop and mobile devices
Following the update, we at AccuRanker are seeing a lot of fluctuation in rankings. Our Google Grump tool showed how the update affected rankings on desktop and mobile. Ranking fluctuations increased significantly on September 25th globally across all devices, but desktop varied slightly more than mobile.

Europe appears to have been hit harder by the update than the US and Australia. The fluctuations in the US have remained pretty much the same since the update went live, with only a small change on the 25th.

In the UK, Germany and France list of united-kingdom cell phone numbers the biggest increases were seen on September 25, while in Denmark there was a big change on September 26.

What does this mean to you?
Europe has been experiencing more ranking fluctuations than the US over the past few days, so what does this mean for your website and keyword rankings?
When you use AccuRanker to track your keywords, you can see if your rankings have changed in the last few days since the update went live. For example, we saw a big increase in our Share of Voice in the UK as a result of the update.

SEOs around the world have noticed this effect too, but according to a poll by Barry Schwartz on Twitter , the majority didn’t see a change by September 25th.
If you’re one of the unlucky ones and you’re seeing your rankings drop, Google published a post in August about what you need to know about core updates , noting that even if your page performs worse, there may not be anything “wrong” with your site that needs fixing.
If you’re not using AccuRanker, it can be difficult to know exactly what impact the update has on your website in the SERPs. While you won’t be able to make a quick change and magically get the top organic position in Google, it’s important to understand how your website is performing for your keywords and why sudden changes are occurring.
