2. The Shelburne Inn
For our first breakfast, we went to the historic The Shelburne Inn. The inn is beautiful, and visitors are welcome to tour the property and peek into the vacant rooms that are tied up. Since we went during mushroom season, I ordered the Innkeeper’s Wild Mushroom Herb Blend with four types of cheese, wild mushrooms, watercress, and germany email list herbs ($11). I liked that it was packed with greens, but unfortunately, the garlic flavor overpowered the blend. My husband had Buttermilk Biscuits and Elk Sausage Gravy with a poached egg. I liked the elk sausage and thought it gave a unique flavor to a traditional dish. While this didn’t turn out to be our favorite breakfast in Long Beach, we did like the presentation, the historic ambiance, and the antiques. If we had more time, I would have liked to try their Malted Waffles ($6) and Classic French Toast ($10), as well as check out the Happy Hour at the pub.
