Writing a video script can seem like quite a daunting task.

Of course, it's not easy and it requires a lot of work, discipline, rework and detachment. And patience. After all, you're not going to write an incredible script the first time and start filming the next minute.

But there is a certain “recipe” that, if followed correctly, can help you a lot to write a good script and ensure that the video results as expected.

Write down these 6 tips and put them into practice now!

1. Set goals
Although this step may seem trivial, it is extremely important for the final result, as it will avoid new changes in the future that could mean starting all over again.

If you want a script that will deliver the results you want, you’ll need to write a video brief. This will not only help you understand your goals, but also your audience and the value you want to convey.

Make a list of the main goals of your video. To do this, try asking yourself:

What is the purpose of your video?
What action would you like your viewers to take? What channels will you use?
Who is your audience?
What are the main takeaways from the video?
2. Set the video duration
Every word counts in your script, so cut out the unnecessary ones. When it comes to scriptwriting, less is always more.

But as always, it depends. The amount of information you belize phone number data plan to include in your video depends entirely on your audience and the type of video you want to produce.

Ideally, you should keep your video between 2 and 3 minutes long, but remember that the first 10 seconds are crucial to keeping people engaged until the end of your video. So, your script should be no longer than 300 to 400 words.

Aim to impact your audience at this point and make sure your script conveys a central message, so if your audience chooses to leave, at least they will have received the most important information.

3. Structure the script
Each type of writing follows a structure, and a script is no different.

A structure makes it easier to understand the hierarchy that different ideas should follow. Start with an introduction using a hook or main message to engage your audience in those important first few seconds.

Next, explain the problem your product or service will solve. Use this as an opportunity to empathize with your audience by understanding their frustrations and pain points. Highlight the main benefits of your product/service. Important: focus more on results than features.

Don’t forget to include a call to action, such as “visit our website” or “learn more.”

4. Turn your message into a story
While it can be very difficult to turn big, complex ideas into simple messages, it is important to choose your main message.

Oh, and don’t be tempted to condense all your messages into one short video. It will have the opposite effect to what you intended.
