About three months ago, a slight decline in the number of users dealt a severe blow to Facebook's stock on the stock markets. However, in the last quarter, the number of users of the company increased again (and Wall Street breathed a sigh of relief once again).
During the first quarter of 2019, Facebook was accessed by 30 million users every day (some 30 million more than three months earlier). The growth was greeted with great enthusiasm on the netherlands phone number data stock exchange, where shares of Meta, Facebook's parent company, jumped by more than 18% yesterday.
In the previous quarter, Facebook's number of daily active users fell for the first time to 1.929 billion (one million fewer than the previous quarter). At the time, Meta had no qualms about admitting that TikTok 's strength was hurting its social media. At the time, the company's shares lost more than a quarter of their value in just one day and continued to fall further.
During the presentation of Meta's latest quarterly results, CEO Mark Zuckerberg wanted to emphasise the success of its own in-house response to TikTok: Reels. On Instagram, for example, users watch Reels videos a fifth of the time they spend on the platform. On Facebook, video content now takes up half of user time, and Reels is also gaining increasing popularity. The company is already working on developing advertising formats specifically adapted to Reels .
TikTok owes much of its popularity to its algorithms, which show users content based on their interests and the amount of time they spend on certain videos.
