Conversions within a LinkedIn campaign are usually measured using the LinkedIn Insight Tag. This is a tracking pixel that is integrated into the header area of a website and is then always initialized when the page is loaded. LinkedIn's tracking pixel examines which pages and events are accessed or executed after clicking on a LinkedIn ad.

This can be used, for example, to measure how many people visit a landing page and then fill out a lead form or place an order in the online shop. This information is collected by the tracking uganda whatsapp resource pixel and then reported back to LinkedIn's advertising system. In the LinkedIn Campaign Manager, the conversions achieved are then assigned to the corresponding campaign.

Linked Conversions API functionality
However, for various reasons, conversions may not be tracked properly. This may be the case if the user's browser blocks all tracking pixels or third-party cookies, for example. This is the case by default in Safari and Firefox. It is also possible that the pixel is not loaded at all due to a poor internet connection or a slow page loading speed. Added to this is the fact that tracking pixels are often portrayed in a bad light due to data protection concerns.

This is where the Conversions API comes into play: LinkedIn's CAPI uses the tracking server to create another way to report conversions. The conversions are reported in parallel via the user's browser (tracking pixel) and via the cloud (tracking server). If the tracking pixel fails due to the reasons mentioned above, the CAPI takes over - and the conversions are reported despite all adversities.

Requirements for setting up the LinkedIn Conversions API
There are a number of requirements that must be met in order for the LinkedIn Conversions API to be installed on the website:

Your website must have Google Tag Manager and GTM must be set up correctly. Check out our guide to learn how to install GTM.
You need a tracking server that is connected to the Google Tag Manager. How to create and connect a Google Tag Manager (server-side) is explained in this guide for the Facebook Conversions API . It works in a similar way for the LinkedIn Conversions API.
Additionally, your page must have an embedded LinkedIn Insight Tag and conversions on LinkedIn must already be active. If you are not already using a LinkedIn tracking pixel, you can set it up here .
The LinkedIn Conversions API works very similarly to the Facebook Conversions API. If you are interested in how exactly the CAPI works, I recommend our comprehensive article on setting up the Facebook Conversions API with all common tool providers.

But now back to LinkedIn: As soon as the Google Tag Manager (client-side and server-side) is up and running and your website has a working LinkedIn Insight Tag, you can set up the LinkedIn Conversions API. In our instructions, we use the Google Tag Manager, but you can also connect the LinkedIn CAPI with many other tools. You can find all available connections in the LinkedIn help section .
