A new era: Marketing 4.0

Post by najmulislam100 »

It's no secret that the internet is present in our lives, right? And marketing is increasingly dominating the sales strategies of companies around the world. However, amidst so many technological transformations and growing competition, Marketing 4.0 emerged, in which Philip Kotler, considered one of the fathers of marketing, developed this concept in 2016 together with Hermawan Kartajaya and Iwan Setiawan.

Kotler defines Marketing 4.0 as the latest stage of marketing in this internet age. But what exactly is it and what can it do for your company? You are one step away from finding out!

What is Marketing 4.0?

By number four, we can already imagine that we have other phases of marketing, and it is true. The evolution of versions 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 brings us, today, to 4.0. To understand better:

Marketing 1.0: this stage began during the industrial revolution, around 1760, in which chinese overseas british database focused its efforts on the product and not on the customer.
Marketing 2.0: many companies began to emerge and, thus, customers began to have several options to choose from. This forced, unlike 1.0, strategies to be totally focused on the customer, offering products that went beyond just meeting their needs.
Marketing 3.0: this phase is defined by three pillars: collaboration, culture and spirituality, fully linked to the company's strategic planning, understanding the consumer as a human being and focusing mainly on values.
Finally, Marketing 4.0:

The era of Marketing 4.0 and digital inclusion is upon us. We now have access to countless information and technologies, making us consumers with many opportunities at our fingertips. Therefore, companies need to adapt to this new consumer. They are no longer just after price; a good experience can often count for much more.

It sounds complicated, but it's super simple. Companies will continue to do traditional marketing, such as on TV, radio and newspapers, but the focus and a huge increase is happening on digital, on social media . A connection between traditional and digital is made.

All of this means that the term Marketing 4.0 is a major challenge for all brands, impacting an audience that is increasingly busy and doesn't have much time. The big challenge is to impact them with stimuli.

The purchasing process in Marketing 4.0 becomes much more personal, with those who are selling and those who are going to buy exchanging information. After all, the consumer has access to many other similar products and also opinions about that brand or product.

An example of how all of us, consumers, have access to a lot of information is very simple: search on Google for a product you want to buy. We search for Tennis Shoes:

Look just below the search bar, there are more than 71 million options when searching for the term “Tennis”, and look what happens when you search for “Tennis”, without the accent:

518 million options! There are countless products and brands wanting to win you over. Now you understand why solid digital marketing strategies are so important . Remember that here you are not counting everything we see on TV, in magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, among others.

Your company needs to know this
Your company needs to enter this new era, otherwise, the chances of being left behind by competitors are high. Therefore, take into account two valuable tips to start entering this world of Marketing 4.0:

Your brand must be humanized and a content producer.
What does it mean to be a human brand? It means being close to your customer, not just thinking about selling, but rather creating a great relationship with them. How do you do this? Let your imagination flow, you can create strategies to get closer, such as personalized service, having contact, literally, with friends, will make all the difference.

In this post I also talked about the consumer who now exchanges and searches for information, opinions… remember? By producing content, you will strengthen ties with your potential customer, and they can automatically acquire an “attachment” to your products and make you a reference for them, on that particular subject.
