Aave is an open-source decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain. The AAVE token is the governance token of the Aave platform. It takes on the role of banks and brokerages in traditional financial systems, allowing users to borrow and lend, earn interest, and perform various financial transactions using cryptocurrencies as collateral.
Aave was launched in 2017 under special lead the name ETHLend and later rebranded to Aave in 2018. Aave, which means “ghost” in Finnish, aims to revolutionize the financial world with its decentralized structure and transparency.
