AISO, GEO, AEO – what do these abbreviations mean?
First,
AISO – AI Search Optimization – the equivalent sierra leone cell phone database of SEO as we know it, only with AI in mind. It focuses on building visibility in AI-generated responses, such as those in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Deepseek, and Gemini. The goal is to gain brand mentions, citations, traffic, and conversions from the AI channel, as well as brand or product recommendations in AI-based tools. This is a broader and more comprehensive approach to AI SEO, which, to some extent, encompasses the two definitions below.
GEO – Generative Engine Optimization – often used as a synonym for AISO, but much narrower, it focuses on optimizing content for generative search results, such as AI Overviews from Google.
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) – this concept was created slightly earlier than AISO and GEO and its goal was to optimize for direct answers provided to users, e.g. by voice assistants, or direct answers, which we can still find in Google.
