You don't want to lose your daily streak!

Post by arzina544 »

The internet is full of videos of people doing something in specific situations for a single and simple reason, namely that others are doing it too. These videos all show that – although we are convinced that we live our lives in a very individualistic way – social proof as an influencing technique almost always works. In the case of Ommetje: if your team participates, you participate too. You come up with these rationalizations afterwards.

Ommetje has a nice trick to counteract a day of neglect ('pfff, not today'): you get 3 extra points for a walk when you continue your daily series. If you don't walk for a day, the series stops and you have to start all over again. You've been fooled! You definitely don't want to lose those points. Loss aversion plays a major role here. We'll come back to that later, by the way.

4. Sharing is caring
Every app builder does his best to reach as many people as possible. The builder can of course make that effort himself, but it is much nicer when you make that effort for him. And as an autonomous individual, you of course do not let anyone dictate to you about that. Unless you show someone else that you care about him or her... That is exactly how the share button in Ommetje is framed .

There is a big heart in the middle of kuwait telegram data the share button and you also get 2 XP points for each time. Good for your friend and good for your position in the ranking. We also suspect that these free points are part of shady constructions in which buddies share back and forth after their daily walk. We have a number of main suspects in our team.

5. Just look, it's your day
People naturally like to decide for themselves what they do. We want to be autonomous. Who doesn’t prefer to choose whether to go for a walk on a beautiful sunny spring day, rather than your phone beeping because you have to go for a walk?

In the first case, we choose the behavior ourselves. According to the self-determination theory, this leads to higher intrinsic motivation. The Ommetje app encourages you to walk, but does not impose it on you. And that is an important difference.

Another technique that can give people the feeling that they are in control of things is self-persuasion . By asking smart questions, you let people conclude for themselves what they like about the good behavior. The Ommetje app does not ask you these questions. But that does not mean that you can no longer ask yourself these questions! Tell us: what does the Ommetje app give you.
