Where geo-dependent queries have traffic

Post by ritu800 »

As we can see, geo-dependent queries have a very high CTR.

This means that ignoring them is definitely not recommended.

But to get traffic from them you have to work hard.

How to promote using geo-dependent queries?

Our short checklist:

Identify queries . Not all queries are suitable for this purpose.
Identify the regions in which you are promoting.
Study how people search for your city. For example, Saint Petersburg is more often searched as SPB, and not as Piter or Saint Petersburg.
Place information about your branches in the required cities in directories. It is optimal to use directories Google My Business and Yandex Directory.
Include the key cities in which you operate in the title and content.
If you have many branches, in the “Contacts” section for each branch, create a page where you describe unique content - what it does, directions, opening hours and contacts for this particular branch.
Numbers in keywords
And this strategy became popular in 2018 here.

It can still generate a lot of traffic.

We spied this strategy from our overseas competitors and colleagues.

A simple trick is if you post any informational content, include a date on it.

Please note: the CTR for such queries was almost 30%.

Высокий CTR по ключевым слова с цифрами
At the same time, the queries in this section phone number databases can definitely be compared with highly competitive ones - for example, on the topic of mass following , the CTR was only 3.17%, the article dropped almost to 6th place for this query and I received only 62 clicks from this article (9 times less)!

How to use this strategy?

If your topic has a content update factor, always add the year.
Also try to update old content that was created a year ago, simply updating the title and content. Some articles from the TOP contained the keyword 2018 and even 2017, we just rewrote a number of paragraphs in them.
This method works great.

Queries “Reviews”, “Comparisons” and “Ratings”
Additional traffic collection on article sites is a modern trend in SEO.

We are absolutely sure that this method will not become obsolete here.

When all the niches have already been taken care of, you often have to look for unusual keywords for your blog.

Review related queries of course!

The recipe for a high CTR is simple and straightforward: product name + the word Review.

My first experience in SEO was based on reviews – thanks to them, I brought an online electronics store to the TOP in 2010-2012.

And I’m ready to share a simple checklist on how to advance through review queries:

We monitor the results. We collect all combinations of the list - product name + word "Review".
We take metrics in Ahrefs or use KeyCollector.
We are interested in metrics - how many articles with this title are already in the TOP, as well as traffic. If the amount of content on the network is small, and the traffic is more than 100 per month, it makes sense to create your own review.
The more reviews, the better. They perfectly link to the main product page, and you raise your positions in the TOP for product queries.
Promotion by thin content
Thin content promotion strategy is a new trend in SEO.

The method is based on the principle that not all articles can be promoted to the TOP, no matter how much you would like to.

Or you can make 2-4 articles on materials that will reach the TOP in 2-3 months and generate traffic right now.

In my video “What Works in SEO?” I went into detail about the strategy of thin content promotion.

We have mentioned it several times in our podcasts and video blogs.

Thin content strategy – promotion by writing article materials for your site, selected according to the following principle: the basis for writing the material is an article that occupies the TOP for traffic queries in the search, but has outdated or incomplete content.

The reason why such outdated articles are in the TOP is the lack of more relevant content for these keys, poor quality of competitors' sites, good behavioral factors of the site of the owner of such content.

The method for promoting thin content is actually simple:

We parse all traffic relevant queries.
We search for articles in the search that occupy the TOP, but have an old content update date.
We fish out articles that have content relevant to our topic.
We collect keywords in the TOP of these materials.
We take these keys as the basis for our technical specifications for a copywriter .
We write material that is a little longer and fresher than the article found in the TOP.
You can spend tens of hours searching for such content!

After all, you will have to sort through hundreds of resources.

Of course, Scrapebox helps here , which allows you to parse a huge number of sites in a matter of hours.

The first article we wrote using this method was about making money on Instagram .

To find this article, we combed through all the competitors and found this site:

The site had a rather mediocre interface, but nevertheless, it collected traffic for this article.

Parsing his keywords was a matter of a couple of minutes – it’s easy with Ahrefs:

Парсинг ключей через Ahrefs
Next, write an article.

Which is what Anatoly Ulitovsky did!

We've covered all the specifics of content writing, from Joe Sugarman's copywriting basics to the right Title headings .

Literally a few months later, the article began to gain momentum in positions!

And after a while, leads started coming from it.

I checked the keywords that gave us traffic, and in terms of CTR, they are doing great, considering that their position is not high!
