Why is the number of direct clicks increasing sharply?

Post by Nusaiba10030 »

A positive trend for websites is the growth of direct visits. This traffic includes visits from:

by entering the URL manually;
via a bookmark in the browser;
from a site on htpps to a resource with an unsecured http protocol.
You can track such visits in the "Sources, Summary" section of Metrica reports. A good indicator for commercial websites is a direct visit rate of 15-30%. If the number of direct visits has increased sharply, along with a bounce rate increase, there may be several reasons:

1. Robots are visiting the site. This factor may lead to search engines banning the resource or imposing a filter. You can examine the situation in the relevant report. To prevent this from happening again, we recommend enabling filtering by strict rules and behavior. Once Metrica stops recording robot visits, the report will show nigeria cell phone database more reliable information. You can also block suspicious IP addresses. Just be sure not to block search engine robots.

2. The visits were made from a source using the https protocol. To ensure Yandex Marketing correctly identifies the visit, the UTM tag is used.

Another reason for the significant increase in traffic is the offline advertising campaign, increasing brand awareness.

Why aren't transitions from some sites recorded?
Traffic sources to a resource are tracked using tags and referrers. However, in the case of errors or incorrect parameter transfer, it may be impossible to identify transitions. Technically, a direct transition is defined as opening a website page without the browser transmitting the Referer HTTP header. This header contains the source address of the visit. If the URL is not displayed, the site name was manually typed into the browser's address bar.

Recommendations for transmitting the referrer header are contained in the Referer Policy document published by the World Wide Web Consortium. It states that the referrer is transmitted when transitioning from http to secure and insecure protocols, and from https to a similar type of site, but is not transmitted when transitioning from https to http. This means that you won't see a visit from an https-based website on an insecure protocol.

Therefore, Yandex specialists recommend migrating your site to a secure protocol version. And if you want the transition to an HTTP resource to be recorded, use the markup provided in the Referer Policy document .
